History

Established in 1960, Saint Vincent serves Margate area Catholics. The first Mass was celebrated under a donated tent, but within a year, parishioners had constructed a church. Later, parishioners erected a community center with eight classrooms and a large hall suitable for the parish’s educational, social, and fund-raising activities. In 1980 a new church was dedicated and the former church was converted into office space, chapel and meeting hall. In October 2005 St. Vincent experienced major damage to its buildings and grounds from Hurricane Wilma. All of the buildings have been completely refurbished and the grounds are just beautiful.

St. Vincent is a vibrant, active bilingual parish serving its members and the community through daily Mass, Our Lady of Perpetual Help novena and its numerous ministries, including Eucharistic ministers, English and Spanish Praise Ministries, the Legion of Mary, Spanish Bible Study, the Men’s Guild, the Women’s Guild, the Craft Group, the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, the Knights of Columbus and the Columbiettes. St. Vincent is proud of its religious education program and its dedicated teachers who work to instill the faith in children. During nearly 50 years St. Vincent has shown itself to be resilient and innovative in meeting the demands of an ever changing and challenging community welcoming everyone.
