MIAMI | After getting Heat superstar Dwyane Wade to show up at your prom, what can you do for an encore?

How about showing off the teams NBA trophy and championship ring to kick off your high school basketball season?

That is just what Archbishop Coleman Carroll High School did thanks to the efforts of 2011 alumnus and current alumni relations director Brandon Lopez, along with the schools development director, Tara Myers.

I've been friends with the Miami Heat for a few years now (since I was a student at ACC), Lopez said via email. Since we're working with them for an upcoming fundraising initiative, I asked if we could have the trophy or a cheerleader or Bernie to come for our Midnight Madness event. We ended up getting the trophy!

While on display in the Carroll High gym Nov. 8, members of both the boys and girls basketball teams, cheerleaders, alumni, current students and their families were able to have pictures taken of themselves with the trophy and a life-size poster of Wade in the background.

We believe that bringing the Larry O'Brien trophy to ACC is an excellent way to engage the students in student activities, as well as the local community since it's such an integral part of the South Florida community, said Lopez, who works at NBC6 as an associate producer.

After our Dwayne Wade prom hit in May it seems it keeps going here! added Sister Rosalie Nagy, the schools principal.

She already has a picture with Wade. Now she and her fellow Carmelites who work at the school can show off their picture with the NBA trophy as well.
