Sister Mary Beatrice Sullivan, 97, a Sister of St. Joseph of St. Augustine, served in elementary education in the Archdiocese of Miami, and other dioceses in Florida. She died June 4, 2024.
ST. AUGUSTINE | Sister Mary Beatrice Sullivan, a Sister of St. Joseph of St. Augustine, died on June 4, 2024, at the age of 97. Born on Dec. 12, 1927, in County Cork, Ireland, Sister Mary Beatrice was a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of St. Augustine for almost 75 years, serving primarily in elementary education throughout the State of Florida. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1949.
Sister Mary Beatrice served in schools in Coral Gables, St. Augustine, Miami, Jacksonville, Miramar, and Tampa. In 2009 she retired in St. Stephen’s Parish, Miramar, and volunteered in the parish until she moved to St. Augustine in 2013 to Our Lady of Lourdes Convent where she had a ministry of prayer.
Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Sisters of St. Joseph, P.O. Box 3506, St. Augustine, FL 32085.
The Sisters of St. Joseph of St. Augustine, the only congregation of Catholic apostolic women religious headquartered in Northeast Florida, have served the people in Florida continuously since 1866. Their mission is to foster unity and reconciliation in service of the Dear Neighbor. They currently serve in St. Augustine, Miami, and Jacksonville in a variety of ministries.
