Local Catholics thanked for generosity

Collections for retired religious, black and Indian missions raise over $300,000

MIAMI | Archbishop Thomas Wenski has received two letters thanking the archdiocese’s Catholics for their generosity.

The first noted the $104,558 collected in South Florida parishes for the 2017 Black and Indian Mission Collection, which supports the Church’s outreach to African American, Native American and Alaska Natives.

The second noted the $211,900 collected in the archdiocese in support of the Retirement Fund for Religious. Proceeds from this collection help with medications, nursing care and other day-to-day necessities of elderly religious. Since the collection was launched, archdiocesan Catholics alone have given nearly $5 million to the Retirement Fund for Religious.
