MIAMI | Miami-Dade County Commissioner Roberto Gonzalez, District 11, presented Archbishop Thomas Wenski with a proclamation declaring May 3, 2025, as Faith Family Festival Day.
The proclamation, on behalf of Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and the other commissioners, was presented the same day during the 1st annual Faith Family Festival at the Miami-Dade Fair & Expo Center near Florida International University.
Archbishop Wenski offered a closing prayer and blessing to the community at the end of the event.
The festival included fun activities for the whole family: live music, basketball tournaments, bounce houses, a talent show, face painting, a petting zoo, and special guest speakers from different churches and faith organizations.
There was also a food distribution to 2,000 families in need.
Commissioner Gonzalez said he believes the region needed a public, annual fun day for families of faith and that “a lot of leaders like the archbishop are bringing the faith back, and there is something cool happening in the world right now.”
“It is not only to put an emphasis on what is the most important thing in life, which is family, but also God, and to have the archbishop bless us with a prayer today is amazing for Miami-Dade County,” he said.
