Girls' volleyball team competes in regionals; debater wins first place

MIAMI - Archbishop Curley Notre Dame High School girls� varsity volleyball team had a competitive season with a final record of 11 wins and 6 losses. The team was runner-up in 3A District 15 and made it to the first round of the 3A Regional Tournament.

The 2011 team roster includes: Captains Melissa Nicole Metcalf, Josie Norteus and Shatoreia Edgecome; Jackysha Jean; Jensen Rayburn; Megan Romanik; Alyssa Lambert; Caroline Morley; Ariel Mishali; and Galisa Hyppolite. The coaches are Jose Ramirez and Felipe Ramirez.

In other news: Taylor Altidor, senior and captain of Curley Notre Dame�s Speech and Debate team, captured first place in the Oral Interpretation category of the South Florida Catholic Forensic League qualifying tournament, held Nov. 12 at Michael Krop Senior High School in Miami.

Shelby Charles was named the Best Novice in Oral Interpretation and Valencia Arnoux followed closely behind in second place. Both are in ninth grade.

The South Florida Catholic Forensic League is affiliated with the National Catholic Forensic League, whose goal is to support high school speech and debate activities for public, private, and parochial high schools in the U.S. and Canada.
