MIAMI The girls varsity basketball team from Archbishop Curley Notre Dame High School has entered the Regional competition as district champions with a 21-19 win over Miami Country Day last Saturday at the 15-2A District Championship game.
Sophomore Ciddjyne Chery, junior Kelly Gutierrez, freshman Jackysha Jean and junior Sophia Anilus led the Lady Knights defense as they shut down Miami Country Days top two scorers by limiting them to only two points. ACNDs lead scorer was junior Danielle Bostick with six points. Freshman Shatorreia Edgecombe, an MVP for the University School basketball tournament and a Miami Herald Player of the Week, demonstrated superior skills with four steals. This was a quiet game for Co-captain senior Cendy Schutt, who has averaged 6 rebounds per game.
The varsity basketball Lady Knights are led by ACNDs athletic director, coach Greg Magner, and supported by assistant head coach Beth Love.
