MIAMI � The girls� varsity basketball team from Archbishop Curley Notre Dame High School has entered the Regional competition as district champions with a 21-19 win over Miami Country Day last Saturday at the 15-2A District Championship game.

Sophomore Ciddjyne Chery, junior Kelly Gutierrez, freshman Jackysha Jean and junior Sophia Anilus led the Lady Knight�s defense as they shut down Miami Country Day�s top two scorers by limiting them to only two points. ACND�s lead scorer was junior Danielle Bostick with six points. Freshman Shatorreia Edgecombe, an MVP for the University School basketball tournament and a Miami Herald �Player of the Week,� demonstrated superior skills with four steals. This was a quiet game for Co-captain senior Cendy Schutt, who has averaged 6 rebounds per game.

The varsity basketball Lady Knights are led by ACND�s athletic director, coach Greg Magner, and supported by assistant head coach Beth Love.
