El verano brinda una oportunidad para que las familias tomen tiempo para relajarse y disfrutar. Sin embargo, en la Oficina de las Escuelas Católicas hemos estado ocupados preparándonos para el año escolar 2012-2013.

El mundo cambia constantemente, y nuestros estudiantes necesitan ir más allá de los libros y del salón de clases. El rol de nuestras escuelas es ofrecerles oportunidades para que trabajen con lo que tienen disponible ahora y mantenerlos ocupados con el aprendizaje. El aprendizaje debe ser agradable y mágico.

Por lo tanto, para el año escolar que se inicia, el logro más excitante es el avance tecnológico en nuestras escuelas. El pasado año escolar, los directores y maestros aprovecharon oportunidades para el desarrollo profesional en los Estándares Esenciales Comunes (Common Core Standards) y la utilización de iPads que “promoverán las condiciones para la invención, en vez de ofrecer conocimientos ya preparados” (Seymour Papert).

Entonces, ¿por qué la educación católica de la Arquidiócesis de Miami es efectiva? Preparamos a sus hijos para el futuro al brindarles las oportunidades de ser parte de la comunidad católica de fe, que sean líderes en el servicio a la comunidad, que piensen críticamente, que se desafíen a sí mismos, que puedan resolver problemas, que sean creativos, que sean comunicadores eficaces, que sean colaboradores, que sean eficientes en la tecnología, y que tengan múltiples destrezas.

Les invitamos a que compartan con nosotros la manera en que la tecnología ha formado parte de la vida de sus hijos.

Your article is a window of the many good things that are happening and will be happening in the Office of Schools. The experience, the desire to making us excel as a Catholic school system and your prompt attention to matters are an indication of what your tenure is and will be. I have not had the opportunity to meet you in person, but I am delighted that you are in Miami and delighted to read this article. While technology makes things easier for the majority of us, it makes things possible for those with disabilities. I continue to hope and to pray that the proper use of techonology in our Catholic schools will help to open the doors of our Catholic schools to include students with disabilities in general education classes. Research has proven the benefits of inclusive education for children and youth with and without disabilities and the failure of segregated systems of education. For example, research has proven that when children with and without disabilities learn together in general education classrooms, the result is the creation of �schools and classrooms that foster kindness, consideration, empathy, concern, and care for others.� Inclusive education is consistent with our Catholic identity, which, as we all agree agree, should be apparent in all our Catholic schools.
