St. Vincent de Paul Seminary receives Lilly Endowment grant

School will study needs of Catholics in dioceses it serves across the Southeast

BOYNTON BEACH | St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary has been awarded a Lilly Endowment Inc. grant in Phase 1 of the “Pathways for Tomorrow Initiative.”

With this support, the seminary intends to expand its understanding of the needs of the parishes and communities it serves across the Southeast region. The Lilly Endowment grant will provide the resources to gather information and utilize experts in the field that will help the seminary to align and affirm future educational and institutional plans to prepare pastoral leaders to best serve the Church of today and tomorrow.

Lilly Endowment is a private philanthropic foundation, and this grant was designated for institutional assessment and strategic planning activities for eligible ATS-accredited theological schools. Lilly Endowment’s primary aim in religion is to “deepen and enrich the religious lives of Christians in the United States.”

St. Vincent de Paul Seminary is located in Boynton Beach and is an ATS-accredited school. It currently has a student population of over 110 seminarians. Since its foundation in 1963 it has formed over 600 priests who have gone on to serve in parishes across the state, the Southeast, and parts of the Caribbean. St. Vincent de Paul is one of the only two bilingual seminaries in the US, with courses taught in English and Spanish.
