CORAL SPRINGS | Valentine’s Day came a bit early for the health care workers performing COVID-19 testing at Mullins Park, thanks to the students of St. Andrew School.

The school’s guidance counselor, Francheska Greene, came up with the idea of sweetening the day for the health care workers who toil at the park, which is located behind the school. Taking advantage of Catholic Schools Week, she enlisted the aid of the student council and middle school students.

The students then set about making handmade cards and video messages for the medical workers and first responders. They also collected heart-shaped boxes of chocolate to deliver to them.

“We kept proper physical distancing when the students and faculty delivered the Valentine hearts,” said Kristen Hughes, St. Andrew’s principal. She described the activity as “great fun, and it was terrific to experience the appreciation of those whom we thanked — from a distance of course.”
