St. Anthony School wins STREAM certification

FORT LAUDERDALE | St. Anthony School has been named a STREAM certified school by the Florida Catholic Conference. St. Anthony is the first school to receive this certification in the Archdiocese of Miami and joins only one other school in Florida.

STREAM is the integration of Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics into a school's curriculum. A STREAM-centered curriculum gets students to take part in learning via interdisciplinary project-based and inquiry-based learning.

St. Anthony has spent the last three years preparing for STREAM certification. First, its teachers and administrators evaluated the system using national standards and benchmarks. Their studies included lesson plans, student work, sample rubrics, and assessments.

Then an accreditation team spent two days at St. Anthony School, observing students and their learning. The team also met with the members of the faculty and student STREAM teams. Based on what the team learned, St. Anthony was awarded accreditation in May.

Even after certification, St. Anthony's teachers continue to incorporate STREAM-based lessons and activities in their classrooms every day.

"Our teachers are constantly seeking new and improved techniques to help students discover their learning potential," said a statement from the school.
