MIAMI | The National Shrine of Our Lady of Charity invites the entire South Florida community to join in celebrating the annual feast of Our Lady of Charity.
This year will mark the 20th anniversary of the coronation of the image by St. John Paul II as Queen and Mother of Cuba. The celebration will culminate Saturday, Sept. 8, at 8 p.m. with the annual Mass, celebrated by Archbishop Thomas Wenski and archdiocesan bishops and priests.
A novena leading up to Sept. 8 will begin Aug. 30 at the shrine, where Mass is celebrated at noon and 8 p.m. daily. The annual artistic vigil in honor of Our Lady of Charity will take place at the shrine from 9 p.m. to midnight Sept. 7. The shrine is located at 3609 S. Miami Ave., Miami.
The Sept. 8 Mass will be celebrated at the Watsco Center on the campus of the University of Miami, 1245 Dauer Drive, Coral Gables. Doors will open at 5 p.m. For more information, go to www.ermitadelacaridad.org.
