Mary Help of Christians School wins third at regional Science Olympiad

School qualifies for state competition

PARKLAND | Mary Help of Christians Catholic School’s Science Olympiad team placed third overall at the recent Florida Science Olympiad Regional Tournament held Feb. 17 at Florida Atlantic University in Boca. The team was coached by teachers Jackie Schaub and Donna Hanrahan.

The Science Olympiad improves the quality of science education through competitions similar to sporting events. Students compete as a team against other schools in 23 different events that range the spectrum of science subjects, such as the solar system, anatomy, ecology, meteorology and more.

The overall third place win also qualifies the Mary Help of Christians team for the Florida Science Olympiad State Tournament to be held March 24 at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
