MIAMI | This summer, six leaders of the LIFE program at Monsignor Pace High School attended the national organization's summer retreat program in Mountain Home, Texas.

The six -- Daniella Conde, Sade Rogers, Nathan Bonet, Teresa Macias, Joshua Dubon and Amayah Novela -- spent a week at Camp Tecaboca, meeting fellow leaders and learning about growing in their faith.

The worldwide LIFE program -- an acronym for Living in Faith Experience -- provides students with opportunities to grow in their faith throughout student-led weekly meetings. The meetings fulfill one of the main focuses at Pace, to offer students a faith experience right in school.

At the camp, the students joined in icebreakers, meditation sessions, ministry workshops, group discussions, prayer, sacraments and team-building exercises.

They also took part in self-reflection activities designed to help them embrace both their strengths and weaknesses in carrying out their roles as leaders.

“It’s one of those experiences that you will remember and use for the rest of your life,” Sade Rogers said of the camp.

Pace’s campus ministry director, Andres Novela, also held workshops for all the students at Camp Tecaboca. The workshops covered topics such as social justice issues and the call to action in carrying out one's commitment.

The Pace LIFE leaders were asked to write a mission statement to summarize the week. They committed to more awareness about the program and to be innovative within their leadership positions.
