Immaculata-La Salle dominates first district sailing regatta

Immaculata-La Salle High School's sailors won both A and B divisions with just 23 total points at the South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association's High School regatta, held Oct. 2, 2021 at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park.

Immaculata-La Salle High School's sailors won both A and B divisions with just 23 total points at the South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association's High School regatta, held Oct. 2, 2021 at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park.

MIAMI | Immaculata-La Salle High School's sailors dominated at the first district regatta, winning both A and B divisions with just 23 total points at the event, held Oct. 2, 2021 at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park.

The second-place school finished with almost double at 45 points and third place had 80 points.

Both of the Royal Lions’ A and B boats won their divisions with first place finishes in the large fleet in half of the races. For the first time, the high school raced a JV boat and finished second among 14 total teams, demonstrating the growth of the team and depth of talent that is being cultivated.

Division A was skippered by Justin Callahan with junior Danny Riano and sophomore Jadin Gonzalez alternating as crew. Division B was skippered by Mitchell Callahan with senior Brianna Ross as crew. Driving JV Division A was sophomore Umi Noritake with Caroline Caudron as crew. Driving JV Division B was freshman Keith Grupenhoff with Holland Ramos as skipper.
