Camillus to host 5 Days of Hospitality events

Program coincides with feast of St. John of God, order’s founder

MIAMI | In conjunction with the feast of St. John of God, Miami’s Camillus House will be celebrating "5 Days of Hospitality" March 6-10, to reflect on opportunities to show greater Christian hospitality as inspired by the life and work of St. John of God.

St. John of God is founder of the Hospitaller Brothers of St. John of God, which last year fused with the Little Brothers of the Good Shepherd. The merger of the two religious communities saw the disappearance of the Little Brothers as a formal entity. They are now part of the worldwide Hospitaller community.

“As a ministry of the Province of the Good Shepherd, we have planned a variety of events intended to show hospitality to our clients, our co-workers and our neighbors,” said Camillus’ Brother Raphael Mieszala.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Monday, March 6, 10 a.m. – Prayer service, Wells Fargo Courtyard, NCL Campus of Camillus House
  • Tuesday, March 7, 10 a.m. – Outreach with CAB (Consumer Advisory Board), Overtown and surrounding communities (depart from main gate outside Bldg. G., near flagpole. Transportation provided by Camillus)
  • Wednesday, March 8, 11:30 a.m. – feast of St. John of God observed, with lunch service, at Ocean Bank Dining Hall, NCL Campus of Camillus House
  • Thursday, March 9, 1:30 p.m. – Ice cream social with performance by Camillus Choir and Spoken Word, Ocean Bank Dining Hall South Entrance and Wells Fargo Courtyard.
  • Friday, March 10, 1 p.m. – food box distribution, mailroom, NCL Campus of Camillus House and Wells Fargo Courtyard.
