MIAMI | Christmas is thought of as a time for family reunions and coming together.
But Deacon Edgardo Farías, who directs the archdiocese's Detention Ministry, reminds us such reunions are impossible for the 20,000 or so incarcerated individuals in South Florida and their families — many of whom attend our parishes.
The Church recognizes — and reminds us — of their human dignity while bringing the Word of God to them in the 30 federal, state and county institutions in Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties.
Listen to Deacon Farías' pleas for understanding and help in ministering to the incarcerated in this latest episode of the archdiocesan podcast, What the Faith, Miami?
