PARKLAND | First graders at Mary Help of Christians School partnered with the parish Women's Club for their religion service project, collecting items to support the children and families in need at Kids in Distress of Broward County.

The students filled Valentine's Day bags with lots of goodies: shampoo, soap, hairbrushes, combs, socks, undies, toothpaste, toothbrushes, stuffed animals and stickers.

"So many kids will have big smiles when they receive their bags," said first grade teacher Alice Smith.
