Nearly 1,000 gather to celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday

At site of future Miami sanctuary and convent

MIAMI | Close to 1,000 people flocked to the future grounds of the Divine Mercy Sanctuary in South Miami to celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday, April 3.

The celebration included a procession with the Blessed Sacrament, Holy Hour, Mass and prayer of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3 p.m. Since the gathering lasted nearly all day, plenty of food and refreshments also were available for those in attendance.

Father Jordi Rivero, founder of the Love Crucified community who now lives in Atlanta, travels to Miami each year to lead the celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday.

Deacon Rafael de los Reyes, spiritual director of the Apostolate of Divine Mercy in the Archdiocese of Miami, is in the midst of raising funds to build the new sanctuary and convent. The site is located at 4121 S.W. 85 Avenue in Miami. Look for more details in a future story.

A House of Prayer is currently open Monday-Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m.
