Farewell to 'Angels'

Massive bronze sculpture leaves Miami for New Orleans

MIAMI | With much less fanfare than when it arrived, the massive bronze sculpture "Angels Unawares," a tribute to immigrants, left Miami April 7, 2021 for its next stop: New Orleans.

The sculpture, a full-size replica of the one blessed by Pope Francis in 2019 and installed in St. Peter's Square, travels in a specially built steel cage.

While in Miami, it served as the backdrop for the launch of a new Institute for Immigration Studies at Barry University and the swearing in of 10 new U.S. citizens. Many also stopped by Bayfront Park to see the immense sculpture for themselves.

Above are pictures depicting the removal, packing and shipping, done by the same workers from Florida Lemark who installed it back on Feb. 9, 2021.
