Speak up in Tallahassee

All those interested in helping to strengthen the presence of Catholic values in the public square are invited to take part in Catholic Days at the Capitol Jan. 28-29. The annual trip to Tallahassee, organized by the Florida Conference of Catholic Bishops, features a briefing on policy issues affecting human life and dignity, meetings with legislators, a breakfast with bishops and state legislators, a tour of the capitol building, and the annual Red Mass of the Holy Spirit concelebrated by all the bishops of Florida. Young people invited to Mercy Night

The Office of Youth and Young Ministry will sponsor Mercy Night on Friday, Jan. 31, from 8 to 11 p.m. at St. Thomas University, 16401 N.W. 37 Ave., Miami Gardens. This year’s Mercy Night will feature musical performances by Sarah Kroger, Ike Indolo and Ricky Vazquez. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. To register, go to: https://conta.cc/2NOBEcO

 

Seminary hosts retreat for young adults

St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach invites all college students and young adults, ages 18-35, to encounter the Lord Jesus, made present through Scripture and the Eucharist, during a retreat Saturday, Feb. 1, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The theme of the retreat is “And the Word Was Made Flesh: Et Verbum Caro Factum Est.” The day will feature amazing talks and allow participants to enjoy the beauty and restfulness of the seminary campus. Invite a friend and join the seminarians for this opportunity to strengthen your relationship with God and grow in community with other brothers and sisters in Christ. Ride with Archbishop Wenski

Archbishop Thomas Wenski will lead his annual Motorcycle Ride Sunday, Feb. 23, beginning with Mass at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 11691 N.W. 25 St., Doral. Riders will leave from there, at 10 a.m., to ride to Peterson’s Harley Davidson South. There will be prizes, live entertainment and food trucks. Cost of entry is $20 per bike, which includes three raffle tickets. All proceeds benefit St. Luke’s Center, an addiction recovery program sponsored by Catholic Charities. St. Maurice at Resurrection to mark 50th

The parish of St. Maurice at Resurrection will mark its 50th anniversary with a bilingual Mass Sunday, March 15, at 10 a.m., celebrated by Archbishop Thomas Wenski. The Mass will be followed by a picnic for the entire parish community. Former pastors of the parish also will be on hand to share their memories. All former and current parishioners are invited.
