Get ready for Welcome Weekend

Parishes in the Archdiocese of Miami will be holding a Welcome Weekend Dec. 7-9, a time to open the doors of the parish and encourage parishioners to personally invite others to "come and see" the Catholic Church. Those invited may be family members, extended family, friends and neighbors who may be drifted away Catholics, members of another church, or the rapidly increasing "nones." The first Welcome Weekend took place last year, in response to Archbishop Thomas Wenski’s challenge to invite one other person to our parishes.

Msgr. Pace High renovates stadium

Msgr. Edward Pace High School, located in Miami Gardens, will celebrate the renovation of their Spartan Stadium at a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday, Dec. 5, at 1 p.m. The assembly will signal the start of the $1.5 million project, for which the school has collected over $500,000 so far. The new state-of-the-art field will feature a polyurethane track and turf and serve the athletic programs for football, soccer, track, cross country, cheerleading and girls flag football. The ceremony also will commemorate a new era in Pace’s Athletic Department, which is now led by Tom Duffin, a class of 1985 alumnus.
