The Belen Jesuit water polo state champions hold up their state trophy after defeating St. Thomas Aquinas 10-7.
MIAMI | For the second consecutive year, Belen Jesuit has captured a state championship in water polo.
Playing April 16 at Ransom Everglades in Miami, Belen defeated another Catholic high school, Broward's St. Thomas Aquinas, by the score of 10 to 7. Federico Tamborrel and Adrian Hernandez scored four goals apiece. Pablo Karzan and Nicolas Tamborrrel combined for the other two Wolverine goals.
This victory gives Belen Jesuit its 20th Florida High School Athletic Association state title, and marks the 10th consecutive year in which the school wins at least one state title. The team also remains undefeated.

On April 18, the Belen student body celebrated the water polo state championship team with a special morning assembly on campus. School President Father Guillermo Garcia-Tuñon presented the team and coaches to the school and spoke about their undefeated season and repeat championship.
