SOUTHWEST RANCHES - Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School has launched their Facebook page to reach alumni and keep them informed on events at the school.

"Facebook is a great way for us to connect with alumni," said Ricardo Gonzalez, director of development at McCarthy High. "This is the perfect place for our alumni to learn about what is going on at their old stomping ground."

Facebook users can use the search bar an the top of their Facebook page, type in "Archbishop McCarthy Alumni Association," then select "Like" and from there, "you will then receive all of our posts," said Gonzalez, who is working to build an alumni network and update the current database.

Patrick Sandoe, McCarthy's alumni coordinator, hopes the Facebook page will generate a greater turnout for the 8th Annual Alumni Mass and Bar-B-Q Round-Up on Dec. 18.

"Typically several hundred alumni attend the Round-Up; we hope to see the turnout double,” said Sandoe. This will be a great opportunity for alumni to reconnect with their friends." Sandoe is also recruiting alumni to organize the ten year class reunion in 2012 for McCarthy's inaugural class.

Alumni are invited to send posts to the e-mail linked to the Facebook page (subject to AMHS administrative approval) about alumni gatherings, exciting news or appropriate photos.

"Most importantly, we are interested to know what our alumni have been doing since their graduation," said Gonzalez.

McCarthy Alumni are asked to send updated contact information and updates by e-mail to [email protected]. Alumni may also RSVP by Dec. 10 to this email for the alumni bar-b-que or by leaving a voicemail at 954-434-8820, ext. 371.
