Benefit for St. John Bosco Clinic

Tuesday, Sep 17, 2019 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM - English

Yumbrella, South Miami's favorite food hall, is hosting a special happy hour on Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in support of the SSJ Health Foundation to benefit St. John Bosco Clinic.

As part of the fundraiser, the SSJ Health Foundation is asking for school supplies to donate to Miami’s underserved children as they prepare for a new year.

Tickets to the event are $25 per person and include two beers, thanks to the generosity of Yumbrella’s bar concept, The Tonic, and appetizers provided by Miami’s famous Killer Melts and the delicious Dr. Limon.

Guests are encouraged to bring school supplies – everything from pencils, pens, and markers to notebooks, backpacks and folders – that can then be donated to the children that come to the clinic throughout the year.

Proceeds from the SSJ Health Foundation event benefit the St. John Bosco Clinic, which is funded by donations, grants and pro-bono support. A $500 sponsorship provides a patient with healthcare for an entire year, including access to medication and diabetes care.

St. John Vianney's Online Degree Programs were conceived as a way of responding to Pope Francis' challenge for Christians to be "missionary disciples" who go out into the "existential peripheries" of the current age and engage society in a way that offers the richness of the Catholic intellectual tradition to those grappling with complex issues of our time.

St. John Vianney is the first and only freestanding college seminary in the United States to offer fully-accredited online degrees. As the only freestanding bilingual college seminary in the country, the online programs allow St. John Vianney to better position itself as an instrument of evangelization.

Through these programs, St. John Vianney, the first and oldest seminary in Florida, seeks to reach out in service to the larger faith community in the state and beyond. They are also our way of sharing the seminary's excellent philosophical program of formation as it celebrates its 60th year of service to the Church.

The online programs are being offered primarily to college-level and pre-theology Formation Houses that are looking for a solid formation in authentic Catholic philosophy from a fully-accredited institution in a way that will allow them greater flexibility and control over their community's schedules. They are also open to religious and lay students who wish to pursue undergraduate or graduate degrees in philosophy.
