5th Annual Via Lucis Series: St David Young Adults

Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM - English

"We are an Easter people and Halleluia is our song!"  (Saint John Paul II) Join us for our 5th Annual Via Lucis, this time as a series from April 14 through May 5.

The Way of Light (Via Lucis) takes us on a beautiful journey with our Risen Lord through 14 significant events from His rising from the dead all the way through Pentecost singing to the tune of "Sons and Daughters, much like the Way of the Cross helps us to walk in the footsteps of Jesus' passion, death, and burial through 14 stations singing to the tune of Stabat Mater.

We begin at 12 p.m. with Mass, friends from other parishes are welcome to join us after celebrating Mass with your respective parishes.

Immediately after Mass, we will have:

  • The Stations of Light (Via Lucis)
  • Faith sharing on which stations of light spoke most deeply to us that week & why,
  • and ways to apply those insights to our lives in the week (s) to follow
  • Our usual weekly Community Prayer/ Intercessions and Thanksgiving
  • Plus some surprises.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided, yet welcome to bring something to share if desired yet not required! Plus special Eastertide surprises.

Though the Way of Light is relatively recent (90s), it was inspired by an ancient inscription found on a wall of the San Callisto Catacombs named for Saint Callistus, a slave who eventually became the 16th pope located on the Appian Way in Rome, the inscription came from the first letter St. Paul wrote to the church at Corinth (around 56 A.D.) in response to the report that some members were denying the Resurrection.

As we move our reflection and prayer focus from Christ's suffering to His glorious resurrection, we stand personally reminded of His great love for us as well as God's promises and joyful plans for us while also being offered an opportunity to contemplate together what this all might mean to each of us, how it all connects to our walk with Christ and each other as the Paschal Mystery becomes alive in our lives.

Catholic News Agency also proposes that [as we focus or refocus on life anew]  "The Via Lucis is a potential stimulus for the restoration of a "culture of life" which is open to the hope and certitude offered by faith, in a society often characterized by a "culture of death", despair, and nihilism."

SHINE Brighter for Christ Women's Eastertide Challenge

Sunday, May 5, 2024 at 10:00 PM - English

"All of us, gazing with unveiled face on the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, as from the Lord who is the Spirit." (2Cor 3: 18)

In what ways did our Lenten walk open your heart to enter into Easter fully embracing the NEW LIFE being offered to you,  so as to more brightly SHINE as, by His grace, as He leads and brings you "from glory unto glory"?

Join the "SHINE Challenge" now thru Pentecost as sisters in Christ come together to pick up where the growth and transformation experienced during our Lenten and Holy Week journeys left off to cheer each other on along the path to kicking things up a notch in our resolve to more fully enter in and more intentionally live in the joy of Christ's resurrection, in the hope that in Christ, our transformation, our METANOIA, continues for His glory and our blessings as well as the blessings of others every time He SHINES more brightly through us.
