'Jesus Day' celebration among Lent events at St. Theresa School

CORAL GABLES | Lenten activities at St. Theresa School and Church of the Little Flower included a Lenten Day of Prayer, a “Jesus Day” celebration and a visit to the Good News! Book Fair.

On March 8, younger students teamed up with older student “buddies” to create resurrection eggs, participate in Mass, and reflect on Jesus’s sacrifice as part of their Lenten Day of Prayer.

Second-grade students preparing for their first Communion participated in a “Jesus Day” celebration” March 13. They attended a learning Mass celebrated by Father Manny Alvarez, pastor of the Church of the Little Flower. Students also made cotton sheep crafts and took part in a picnic with their parents.

Throughout, students were able to stock their bookshelves with selections from the “Good News! Book Fair,” a fundraiser for St. Theresa School which occurred March 11-15.

The “Good News! Book Fair” includes books from secular and Catholic publishers that align with Catholic values. The book fair catered to readers in Pre-K through eighth grade, also including a section for teachers and parents. Besides books, students could purchase planners, bookmarks, and other faith-inspired items. A portion of the proceeds went to the school and church.
