The St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders celebrate their record-setting fifth straight and 15th overall state championship after a 31-28 win over Homestead, Dec. 9, 2023, at Bragg Memorial Stadium in Tallahassee.
MIAMI | Three South Florida Catholic high schools — Hollywood’s Chaminade-Madonna College Prep, Miami’s Christopher Columbus and Fort Lauderdale’s St. Thomas Aquinas — repeated as state football champions in their respective divisions the weekend of Dec. 7-9, 2023.
Aquinas won their fifth straight title and 15th overall – both statewide records – by defeating Homestead 31-28 in the Class 3M matchup Dec. 9. The Raiders ended the season with a 14-1 record, winning all but their first game against Bellflower, California’s St. John Bosco, which is ranked #7 in the nation. The Raiders are ranked #10 nationwide by MaxPreps.

Chaminade-Madonna capped an undefeated season with an overwhelming 56-0 win against Clearwater Central Catholic in the 1M division Dec. 7. This was the Lions’ third straight title and eighth overall. They were crowned back-to-back champs from 2017 to 2019 and now 2021 to 2023. The Lions are currently ranked #2 in the country.
Columbus’ Explorers won their second straight championship by defeating Mandarin 38-19 in the Class 4M final Dec. 8. They ended the season with a 13-2 record.
