FORT LAUDERDALE | St. Thomas Aquinas High School has appointed Denise Aloma as its next principal. Aloma is the 12th principal in the school's 80-year history.
Aloma succeeds Tina Jones, who faithfully served the schools of the Archdiocese of Miami for 50 years, including 37 years at St. Thomas, 15 of those as principal.
Aloma also brings to her new position a wealth of experience. She has spent 43 years in education, including 35 at St. Thomas, where she has served as an English teacher and assistant principal.
The Aloma family is quite familiar with St. Thomas. Her husband, Angel, taught at the high school for 22 years, her three sons graduated from St. Thomas, and her eldest grandson is now a student.
Aloma received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Windsor, Canada; and her master’s degree and doctorate in education from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale.
