MIAMI | Children at St. Kevin School started off the month of May with a special celebration in honor of their heavenly mother.
Their May 1 celebration began with a procession led by altar servers, children dressed as angels, second graders who made their first Communion this month, and eighth graders who had received confirmation earlier, accompanied by the rest of the student body.
The older students carried an image of the Blessed Mother from the school to the church, while everyone sang “Immaculate Mary.”
After a beautiful Mass celebrated by St. Kevin’s pastor, Father Jesús Saldaña, the Marian image was crowned. Children brought flowers, prayed a decade of the rosary and a litany during which everyone consecrated their lives to her.
“What a beautiful celebration!” said Mayra Constantino, the school’s principal. “We have been doing this celebration for a few years now and it has become part of this special month of May.”
