MIAMI | Registration is now open for those wishing to travel to Philadelphia and join Pope Francis at the World Meeting of Families or support him during his visit to Washington, D.C. this September.

The archdiocese has partnered with Dube Travel to offer three pilgrimage options to South Florida Catholics: one to Washington, D.C., and two to Philadelphia, for either the closing weekend or an entire week of activities at the World Meeting of Families.

Pope Francis is scheduled to celebrate the closing Mass at the World Meeting of Families on Sunday, Sept. 27, and arrive in Philadelphia on Saturday, Sept. 26. He is expected to arrive in Washington, D.C., Sept. 22 after a just announced visit to Cuba whose exact dates have not been released.

On Sept. 23, the pope is scheduled to celebrate Mass at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, and speak before a joint session of Congress. He will visit New York City before going to Philadelphia.

Dube Travel are “experts in Catholic pilgrimages, especially to major Vatican events like World Youth Days,” said Stephen Colella, cabinet secretary for Parish Life in the archdiocese, who is organizing the pilgrimages.

He encouraged local Catholics to consider the best option for their families and “join thousands of families from across the country for this opportunity to connect and grow deeper in faith, and celebrate the Eucharist with the Holy Father.”

These are the options and prices (assuming double occupancy in hotel rooms; prices are higher for those traveling alone):

  • Pilgrimage to Washington, D.C., Sept. 22-25: Cost: $360/person; trip by chartered bus, one night in hotel.
  • Weekend pilgrimage to Philadelphia, Sept. 25-28: Cost: $1,464/person; trip by air, three nights in hotel.

Those wishing to join any one of the pilgrimages must register online here.
