Catholic Charities calls for community support for essential food items amid sharp decline in supply

Miami, FL (November 20, 2025) – Catholic Charities, which serves nearly 2,000 families through its local food pantry Mathew 25, is issuing an urgent request for donations following a significant decline in protein items received over recent weeks. Essential items such as beef, poultry, fish, and pork—critical sources of nutrition for the community—have dropped sharply, creating an immediate need ahead of the pantry’s upcoming distribution dates.

Despite outreach to food bank partners, staff have been informed that no protein supplies are currently available for distribution. With more than 30 pallets of cold storage capacity on site, the pantry is prepared to receive and safely store large quantities of frozen protein and other food products. The organization is seeking connections with corporate donors or suppliers who may be able to assist with urgent or ongoing protein donations.

In addition to protein, the following high impact and non-perishable items would make the greatest difference for families served: milk, beans, pasta, rice, snacks, cereal, canned goods, water

The next food distribution will take place on December 6, and contributions ahead of that date will greatly support the pantry’s mission.

Organizations or individuals interested in donating food or linking Catholic Charities with potential corporate partners are encouraged to contact Anaderky Macias at 954-540-8967 or [email protected].
