Miami… (November 4, 2013) The gala for the 55th anniversary of the Archdiocese of Miami is over, but the buzz of its success is still heard. This is because the event raised $1 million that will be destined to fund the different outreach programs of the Archdiocese that help the poor of South Florida.
Close to 1,000 people attended the gala that included entertainment by Soul Survivor and Gypsy Kings.
Archbishop Thomas Wenski has dedicated the funds raised by the 2013 Archbishop’s Gala: A Church for the Poor to benefit the social outreach initiatives to the poor within the Archdiocese of Miami. Moreover, the proceeds from this very special event will be used to not only support the poor in our community through our programs but provides an opportunity to train and educate our parishioners and our youth on how to serve the poor.
Some of the social outreach initiatives within the Archdiocese of Miami focus on the following efforts:
Catholic Charities
Catholic Education
Catholic Legal Services
Early Education & Childhood Development
Educational & Training Services
Emergency Services
Feeding the Poor
Homeless Ministry
Medical Assistance
Outreach to the Elderly
Parish Outreach Initiatives to the Poor
Refugee & Immigration Services
Respect Life Ministry
Services for the Disabled and Disadvantaged
