MIAMI LAKES | Our Lady of the Lakes Cheetahs had a "spooktacular" start to their late fall season sports.
The Halloween week began with the varsity boys basketball team (seventh and eighth grade) defeating Immaculate Conception 35-15 on Oct. 28. The following day, the varsity girls basketball team (fifth to eighth grade) also defeated Immaculate 15-2. Then, on Halloween, the girls defeated St. Patrick's 19-2 to start the season 2-0 by outscoring their opponents 34-7 in the first two games.
On Oct. 29, the primary boys baseball team (second to fourth grade) defeated Immaculate 7-4 to get their first victory of the season and a start record of 1-1. On Halloween, the junior varisty flag football team (fifth and sixth grade) defeated St. Agnes 14-8, with 3 interceptions in the game and 30 seconds left to clinch the win. The team is now 1-0.
The cross country also wrapped up their season with the All Catholic Conference Tri County Meet at Belen Jesuit School Oct. 26, then the All Catholic Conference State Meet Nov. 2, held also at Belen. The results were:

ACC Tri County:
- Cheetah junior varsity girls placed seventh overall, with Danielle Martinez (fifth grade) placing 16th with a personal record time of 10:47.
- The JV boys placed fourth overall, with 8 runners setting personal records: Adam Magoulas (fourth grade) 8:45 (first overall); Michael Sanchez (fifth grade) 8:59 (fourth overall); Joshua Kunkel (second grade) 10:04; Miguel Palacios (sixth grade) 10:31; Jason Ravelo 11:09 (second grade); Brandon Ravelo (fourth grade) 11:22; Ian Cueli 11:27 (fifth grade); and David Espinoza (fifth grade) 12:13.
- The two students representing varsity boys were: Danny Quesada (seventh grade) 15:24, and Ethan Cueli 16:30 (seventh grade.)
- Michael Sanchez (fifth grade) received a medal for placing 20th with a personal record of 12:48.
