MIAMI - Father Daniel Kubala celebrates Mass Dec. 1 on the grounds of his parish, St. Thomas the Apostle in Miami, in thanksgiving to God for the fact that no hurricanes struck south Florida this year. Since 2005, the parish has held a prayer service at the beginning of each hurricane season asking that the area be spared the damages of a major storm.
