Immaculata- La salle High School, a private Catholic school in Miami, Florida, is hiring for a Director of Advancement. The Director of Advancement is responsible for leading the advancement efforts of Immaculata-La Salle High School by securing financial resources in support of the school mission and objectives. The Director will work under the direction and supervision of the principal, and under the guidance of the President of the Development Corporation of the Archdiocese of Miami. This position will seek opportunities and strategically identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects to ensure a strong base of ongoing financial, philanthropic support. The Director will also be responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing, and managing robust capital campaign funds for new/improved facilities. This position performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.
Essential Functions:
- Seek opportunities and develop and implement initiatives to identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects to ensure a strong base of philanthropic support for the school, including but not limited to annual funds, major gifts, planned -giving, and events. Maintain a portfolio of major donors.
- Develop, implement, and lead the advancement of Immaculata-La Salle High School’s strategic fundraising plans.
- Build and implement a planned giving program, under the guidance of the Senior Director of Planned Giving of the Archdiocese of Miami Development Corporation.
- Coordinate special donor, fundraising, stewardship, and other events, as needed.
- Create and sustain positive and mutually rewarding relations between Immaculata-La Sale High School and its donors.
- Design, develop and implement consistent, accurate and appropriate information-sharing mechanisms for Advancement efforts.
- Design, develop and implement process for tracking charitable gifts made to Immaculata-la salle High School through the different vehicles.
- Ensure prompt and accurate gift acknowledgement, stewardship, and donor communications.
- Provide exemplary customer service to all internal and external constituents who contact the Catholic School by phone, email, fax or in person and all attendees at events.
- Prepare donor reports and queries from FrontStream, as needed, and track all capital campaign, annual funds, major gift and planned giving prospects, actions, and notes in Front Stream.
- Oversee assembly of media kits for distribution at events and meetings.
- Regularly evaluate initiatives and results, both in the formative and summative stages and report results to Principal.
- Liaise with Immaculata-La Salle High School Financial Administrator.
- Supervise Advancement Office Staff.
- Develop and implement an overall strategic plan, in coordination with the Chief Development Officer for the Archdiocese of Miami, for an integrated campaign model that supports the goals and objectives of the Immaculata-La Salle High School Capital Campaign involving all volunteer leadership in strategic development.
- Other duties as related to role and responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Public Affairs, Business, or related field; master’s degree in public business administration or related field; or Juris Doctorate, is preferred.
- 2-5 years’ experience in a nonprofit or public relations or external affairs professional, managerial position; 5-8 years’ experience is preferred.
- Good oral and written English communication skills is a must, including clear speaking voice.
- Good Spanish- spoken and written communication skills strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success persuading and influencing groups and individuals to support the organization’s agenda with respect to colleagues, team members, volunteer leadership and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate and solicit donors, corporations, or other entities for charitable purposes.
- Demonstrated success leading and managing other professionals, supporting staff and volunteers to achieve short- and long-term professional goals and competencies.
- Demonstrated history of maintaining confidentiality concerning contributor’s files.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.
- Ability to navigate online applications and search engines effectively.
- Excellent customer service skills, including ability to maintain focus on and professionalism with people in challenging situations, both in person and by phone.
- Good time management, including ability to manage several projects at the same time.
- Must be able to multi-task and retain accuracy in an environment of competing deadlines.
- Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions.
- Knowledgeable and supportive of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Must have a professional demeanor.
