Chapter Six: Ecological education and spirituality

June 20, 2019

202. Many things have to change course, but it is we human beings above all who need to change. We lack an awareness of our common origin, of our mutual belonging, and of a future to be shared with everyone. This basic awareness would enable the development of new convictions, attitudes and forms of life. A great cultural, spiritual and educational challenge stands before us, and it will demand that we set out on the long path of renewal.

Our Lady of Lourdes Church

My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes,

Off to Lourdes, and with the Archbishop! This weekend we will be blessing our pilgrims as they make their last preparations before leaving for Lourdes. We will be going in three separate planes as it is the only way to fit us all. The first group will be those serving with the Hospitalité Notre Dame de Lourdes in the Sanctuary; at the baths, the train station, and the accueils. The second group is the advance team with the youth. They will be setting up and getting ready to receive and serve the pilgrims from the Archdiocese of Miami, especially those with special needs. Finally, the pilgrims leave next Sunday and arrive in Lourdes on Monday.

Archbishop Wenski will be on the plane with the pilgrims. It will be his first pilgrimage to Lourdes and we are very excited to have him with us. He will celebrate Mass at the Grotto on Tuesday morning, July 2nd.

You can watch it on Lourdes TV at www.lourdes-france.org.

It will be at 1:30 a.m., Miami time. He will also be at the International Mass on Wednesday and celebrate a Healing Mass for the pilgrims on Thursday. He will be there to celebrate with those who are making their Engagement, their permanent commitment, to serve in the Sanctuary of Lourdes and with those who are being inducted into the Famille Notre Dame de Lourdes. All very exciting!

We will be taking your petitions to the Grotto and praying for you and our Archdiocese during the whole of our pilgrimage. Please keep us in your prayers as well. For those of us at home who would like to be inducted into the Famille Notre Dame de Lourdes we will have an induction at the Healing Mass on the Solemnity of the Assumption. Just let me know by sending me an email and I will send you more information about the Famille.

Finally, let us give Fr. Pietraszko a big thank you! He will be watching over the parish while we are gone. It is an added responsibility for him as he will also be serving at the hospital at that time, but it is very special for us.

Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us.
St. Bernadette, pray for us.
