Daleisa Garcia-Pagan is a student at Florida International University graduating with a Bachelors in Art Education. She has been involved in art for as long as she could remember but had not taken art seriously until her late years of high school, at the same time that she dove deeper into her Catholic faith. Post-graduation, Daleisa aspires to become an Art Educator and is also driven to create a sci-fi graphic novel series for teens to young adults, a story derived from a Catholic worldview.
Daleisa is currently exploring many mediums of art, including acrylic painting, printmaking, charcoal drawing, oil pastel, ink, and ceramics. Exploring different mediums, she has had the chance to expose her work in exhibitions and find connections to her faith through art. Many of her works derive from personal internal experiences of faith, connected to devotions she has prayed with. Daleisa considers herself a Salesian and is active in the Catholic campus ministry of FIU. Because faith has been intertwined in Daleisa’s college career, this has grounded her artwork to be Christ-centered.
Daleisa resides in Miami but was originally born and raised in Tampa, Florida. There, she grew up with two older brothers and a twin sister. She has learned to live out the joy of her Catholic faith from her mom and dad and her siblings, finding that in the midst of trials, there is always a reason to have gratitude and persevere with love, compassion, and excellence in the name of Christ.
