Pilgrimage to Ireland with the Archdiocese of Miami Office of Marriage and Family Life for the World Meeting of Families

Pilgrimage Includes:

Itinerary *

Day 1 SUN AUG 19: MIAMI/DUBLIN. Meet at MIA @ 6:30 pm for 9:10 pm departure. Dinner and breakfast are served on our non-stop, overnight flight.

Day 2 MON AUG 19: WELCOME TO IRELAND. Upon arrival at Dublin Airport @ 10:35 am, we will be driven by motor coach to our hotel. We will then enjoy a tour of the Dublin city center via double-decker bus. Following the tour, we will visit St. Patrick’s cathedral. We will celebrate Mass at a Dublin church and then you have free time to explore Dublin and have dinner.

Day 3 TUE AUG 20: DAY IN DUBLIN AND OPENING OF WMOF. Enjoy an Irish breakfast at our hotel. On your own, walk or ride the Dublin Hop-on, Hop-off bus to explore more of Dublin; admission to over 20 Dublin attractions are included in your 3-day Dublin City Pass. In the late afternoon there will be opening celebrations for the WMoF in parishes throughout Dublin-upon release of locations we will choose a location to attend as a group. Group dinner at 7:00 pm at the Brazen Head, Ireland’s oldest pub-dinner includes Irish storytelling and folk music.

Days 4-6 WED AUG 21-FRI AUG 23: ATTEND WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES. Each day will begin with breakfast at our hotel. The WMoF will be held at the RDS Center, which is located 2.25 miles from our hotel. Each day there will be a series of workshops, keynote speakers and activities, all exploring themes from “The Joy of Love.” Lunch will be provided each day of the WMoF. Mass is celebrated each day at the WMoF as well. Upon conclusion of each day’s activities you will have the evening free to spend at your own leisure.

Day 7 SAT AUG 24: WMOF AND THE FESTIVAL OF FAMILIES. Breakfast at our hotel. There is expected to be a morning session of the WMoF today, with Mass. Lunch will be on your own, and in the afternoon, we will travel together to the location of the Festival of Families. The Festival of Families is a cultural celebration with music, dance, song and prayer. The personal testimonies of families from around the world are also presented. Pope Francis is expected to attend. Depending on the starting time of the Festival, dinner will either be on route to the location, or purchased at the Festival itself, or afterwards.

Day 8 SUN AUG 25: CLOSING CEREMONY OF THE WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES. After breakfast at the hotel, we will make our way on foot to the closing ceremony, which is anticipated to be in Phoenix Park (we will utilize available means of transportation as far as possible, but it is expected that roads will be closed off within a several-mile perimeter of the actual location, requiring all pilgrims to walk at least two miles). Pope Francis is expected to attend and celebrate the closing liturgy.

Day 9 MON AUG 26: DUBLIN-KNOCK-GALWAY. Breakfast at our hotel, after which we will depart by motor coach for our tour of the Irish countryside. Our first stop will be the Knock Shrine and Museum, where over 1.5 million pilgrims visit each year. Mass to be celebrated at Knock. We will have lunch on route, and after Knock will continue to the delightful city of Galway. We will explore Galway for the evening, and several restaurants will be recommended for dinner on your own. Overnight in Galway.

Day 10 TUES AUG 27: GALWAY-BURREN-CLIFFS OF MOHER-DUBLIN. After breakfast we will drive through the Burren Region, which lies in the Northwest corner of County Clare, and is known for its distinctive limestone pavements as well as the ruins of a 12th century Cistercian Abbey. Then we will travel to visit the Cliffs of Moher, one of the most spectacular sights in Ireland. After our visit to the Cliffs, we will continue to Dublin for dinner and to check in to our hotel for the evening.

Day 11 WEDS AUG 28: DUBLIN-MIAMI. Breakfast at our hotel. Enjoy a relaxing final morning in Dublin. Motor coach transfer to the Dublin airport at approximately noon, with a departure time of 3:00 pm. Our nonstop flight will arrive at MIA at 7:15 pm.
