Donation Drive for Refugee Minors & Children in Foster Care

Thursday, Jun 17, 2021all day - English

Our Lady of the Holy Rosary-St. Richard Church has partnered with Hope, Heart, & Home, Citrus Family Care Network, and Catholic Charities to host a donation drive to benefit unaccompanied refugee minors and children in foster care.

Many unaccompanied refugee minors and children in foster care enter shelter or temporary placements with nothing of their own, no clothes save those they are wearing, no toiletries, not even a small stuffed toy or blanket for their comfort. We would like to provide these children with some items that may help ease their transition. They are the future of our faith, and by our good example and generosity, we may share Christ with them.

Please give without reserve.

Catholic Charities'  Unaccompanied Refugee Minors Program works with some 40 teens who fled persecution, poverty. and whose parents were killed. These children are brought to this program by the U.S. State Department. They have fled from Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia. Most do not speak English. The Hope, Heart, & Home Ministry works to support the needs of children in foster care in South Florida.

Holy Rosary St. Richard Church is hosting a donation drive through June 17, 2021 to benefit refugee minors and children in foster care. Drop off the following items at the church office Monday - Thursday between 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.:

  • Gently used laptop so that children can attend school.
  • Walmart, Target, or Publix gift cards, blankets, towels, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant (male & female), socks.

The growing Hispanic presence in our midst challenges us to find pastoral instruments which can help us bridge the communication and culture gap, as we provide means to help our brothers and sisters preserve their faith and integrate into the life of our Church and society. Hence the importance of this SEPI program, which we would like to tell you about.
