Miami Shores, FL (Nov. 11, 2025) — The Archdiocese of Miami Office of Schools is proud to announce that Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School is a recipient of the 2025 National Blue Ribbon School Award by the U.S. Department of Education—a recognition celebrating the school’s longstanding commitment to academic excellence and student achievement.

“Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School continues to exemplify what Catholic education strives to be—academically excellent, faith-filled, and deeply committed to forming young people who will lead with integrity and purpose,” said Dr. Jim Rigg, Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of Miami. “This national recognition affirms the dedication of the school’s leadership, faculty, students, and families who work together each day to create a thriving community of learning.”

As the only Catholic high school in Florida to receive the National Blue Ribbon distinction this year, Archbishop McCarthy was recognized as an Exemplary High Performing School, a category reserved for schools whose students rank among the highest performers on nationally standardized assessments. The coveted National Blue Ribbon Schools award acknowledges the hard work of educators, families and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content.

“This achievement reflects the heart of who we are as a school community,” said Richard P. Jean, President of Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School. “Our students strive for excellence, our faculty goes above and beyond to guide and support them, and our families entrust us with their children’s formation. This award affirms the strength of our mission and the values that shape every aspect of life on our campus.”

Archbishop McCarthy is also widely known for its innovative use of technology to enhance teaching and learning. Its instructional model has served as a benchmark for schools locally, nationally, and internationally, with educators regularly visiting campus to learn from its best practices.

The school’s success is further strengthened by its vibrant community life, including award-winning programs in the arts and athletics, a robust campus ministry, and a wide array of activities that foster student leadership, creativity, and faith formation.
