MIAMI | On the 50th anniversary of "Nostra Aetate," the landmark Vatican II document on Catholic relations with non-Christians, St. Thomas University will host a conference focusing on 50 years of Catholic-Jewish dialogue.
The conference will take place Thursday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. at the university, 16401 N.W. 37th Ave., Miami Gardens.
The speakers will be:
- Archbishop Bernardito Auza, permanent observer of the Holy See to the United Nations;
- Rabbi Noam Marans, director of Interreligious and Intercultural Affairs of the American Jewish Committee; and
- Archbishop Thomas Wenski of Miami.
Nostra Aetate is the landmark 1965 Vatican Declaration on the Relations of the Church with non-Christians. This event will commemorate 50 years of groundbreaking progress with discussion, prayer and a special musical presentation by Paul Posnak and friends of the St. Martha-Yamaha Concert series.
The conference is a joint effort by St. Thomas University, the American Jewish Committee and the Archdiocese of Miami, in collaboration with the Miami Coalition of Christians and Jews, the Rabbinical Association of Greater Miami and the Jewish Community Relations Council.
