St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Preschool in Pembroke Pines, Florida is seeking a nurturing, dependable, and experienced Full-Time Lead Preschool Teacher to join our early childhood education team.
The Lead Preschool Teacher is responsible for creating a warm, safe, faith-filled, and engaging classroom environment where young children can learn, grow, and develop socially, emotionally, spiritually, physically, and academically. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong classroom leadership, excellent classroom management skills, and a genuine passion for early childhood education.
The Lead Teacher will plan and implement developmentally appropriate, hands-on learning experiences; maintain an organized and welcoming classroom; monitor and support student development; communicate effectively with families; and work collaboratively with administration, fellow teachers, and classroom assistants.
The candidate will perform all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, values, and teachings of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Preschool and the Archdiocese of Miami.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and engaging, hands-on learning experiences.
- Create a nurturing, structured, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Establish consistent classroom routines and expectations while using positive behavior guidance.
- Support children's social-emotional, cognitive, language, physical, and spiritual development.
- Observe and assess student progress and maintain appropriate classroom documentation.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with parents regarding student progress, classroom activities, and concerns.
- Provide leadership and appropriate direction to classroom assistants.
- Work collaboratively with fellow teachers, administration, and other members of the preschool team.
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, Department of Children and Families licensing requirements, and Archdiocese of Miami policies and procedures.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, school events, and other responsibilities associated with the preschool program.
- Model professionalism, kindness, patience, and respect when interacting with children, families, and colleagues.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Current Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential required.
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience as a Lead Preschool Teacher or comparable early childhood classroom experience strongly preferred.
- Completion of required Florida Department of Children and Families child-care training and competency exams.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification.
- Strong knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education.
- Strong classroom management, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to plan and provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences.
- Ability to effectively lead and collaborate with classroom assistants.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Basic computer and email proficiency.
- Must demonstrate professionalism, dependability, flexibility, and a collaborative attitude.
- Must be supportive and respectful of the mission and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Experience working in a Catholic school or preschool environment is preferred.
