Maintenance and Custodial Person

St. Henry Catholic Parish, in Pompano Beach, Florida has a position for a full-time Maintenance/Custodial Person. The candidate is responsible for maintaining parish buildings, grounds, and equipment in a clean, safe, and functional condition. This position performs custodial duties, routine maintenance, minor repairs, and event support to ensure that parish facilities remain welcoming and well-maintained while supporting the mission of the parish. The candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Archdiocese of Miami.
Schedule: Tuesday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain parish buildings, grounds, and equipment in a clean, safe, and functional condition.
- Perform routine custodial services and preventive maintenance.
- Complete minor repairs, including basic plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and general maintenance work.
- Inspect facilities regularly and identify maintenance, repair, and safety needs.
- Coordinate and monitor work performed by outside contractors and service providers.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of parish liturgies, meetings, and special events.
- Maintain maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Follow all safety regulations and report hazardous conditions promptly.
- Support emergency preparedness and facility security efforts as directed.
- Perform other maintenance and custodial duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in maintenance, custodial services, or related trades preferred.
- Knowledge of general building maintenance and custodial practices.
- Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC systems.
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and the proper use of tools and equipment.
- Ability to work with varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and maintenance equipment.
- Able to follow all safety procedures and use appropriate protective equipment when required.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English; Spanish and/or Haitian Creole preferred.
