School Secretary

Good Shepherd Catholic School located in Kendall (Miami Dade), Florida has an opening for a School Secretary. The office secretary is responsible for providing office operations, receptionist functions, and clerical support. This candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and tenets of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.
Functions and Tasks:
- Monitor all visitors to school and answer questions regarding school.
- Answer all phone calls.
- Support the principal in effectively communicating the mission and vision of the school to the school community, and in all secretarial tasks, such as school communications, reports, and submissions, etc.
- Collect and document student attendance data daily.
- Assist in preparing letters and documents for the school administrator and maintaining a schedule of appointments and conferences.
- Assist with admissions and new student tours.
- Assist with morning carpool and afternoon dismissal procedures when necessary.
- Supervise students in corridors during transition to next class or specials.
- Assist students as needed, including first aid and/or illnesses.
- Complete all required forms and reports as requested by the principal.
- Communicate with parents in a professional and timely manner.
- Participate in faculty meetings as needed.
- Participate in all teacher workdays and in-service training as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working in a clerical and/or school environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning files and sensitive information.
- Must demonstrate a positive, welcoming, and service-oriented disposition.
- Excellent customer service skills, including ability to maintain focus on and professionalism with people in challenging situations, both in person and by phone.
- Good time management skills, including ability to manage several projects at the same time, and retain accuracy in an environment of competing deadlines.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Good oral and written English-language communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
- Good Spanish-language spoken communication skills strongly a plus.
- Must be supportive of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic School.
- Must have a professional demeanor, including adherence to dress code.
