Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida has an opening for a qualified Instrumental Music Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. The Instrumental Music Teacher is responsible for delivering a comprehensive and dynamic instrumental music program that supports student growth in musicianship, creativity, and performance. The Instrumental Music Teacher will contribute to a collaborative and supportive Fine & Performing Arts Department committed to excellence in both faith and academics. The program emphasizes performance-based learning, student engagement in real world artistic experiences and the development of independent musicianship. The candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami. Salary will vary based on certification and years of experience.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or related field; master’s preferred.
- Florida Department of Education Teacher Certification in Music or Music Education.
- Must obtain catechetical certification from the Archdiocese of Miami Office of Catechesis within three years of hire.
- Three (3) years or more of experience.
- Strong proficiency in instrumental pedagogy across multiple instruments.
- Experience with concert band, jazz ensembles, marching band, and percussion/drumline instruction.
- Ability to arrange music and adapt repertoire.
- Knowledge of sound engineering, music technology, and digital music platforms.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Excellent classroom management skills and have demonstrated ability to engage students.
- Knowledge and skill in use of instructional technology, including iPads, in the classroom.
- Proficiency in MS programs, Zoom, and Notability.
- Excellent oral and written English-language communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
- Supportive and respectful of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church; experience in the Roman Catholic environment preferred.
- Knowledge of basic tenets of the Catholic Church and a commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
- Exemplify professionalism in behavior and performance, including adherence to dress code.
