St. Gregory Catholic School, in Plantation (Broward County), Florida, is seeking a full time Assistant Principal for Student Affairs. This position oversees student behavior, campus culture, and extracurricular activities while fostering a Christ-centered environment. This individual collaborates closely with the principal to ensure the consistent implementation of school policies, support student growth, and promote a safe, respectful, and faith-filled school community grounded in Catholic values. The candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Archdiocese of Miami.
Functions and Responsibilities include:
- Uphold and promote Catholic values in all aspects of student life.
- Implement and enforce the school’s code of conduct with consistency and fairness.
- Address student behavioral concerns and work with teachers, parents, ESE team, and counselors to develop appropriate interventions.
- Foster a positive school climate through character education and student engagement initiatives.
- Communicate with parents regarding student behavior and school policies.
- Collaborate with the Principal regarding student behavior concerns.
- Coordinate student clubs, extracurricular activities, and leadership programs.
- Lead school-wide events that enhance student life, including retreats, assemblies, and service projects.
- Schedule and implement Aftercare activities.
- Assist in school-wide initiatives, events, and administrative duties as assigned by the Principal.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree required.
- Florida Certificate in Educational Leadership (or commensurate credential).
- At least 3 years of experience within a Catholic school.
- Ability to understand and serve diverse populations.
- General knowledge and understanding of rites and rituals of the Catholic Church.
- Knowledge and understanding of National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools.
- Capacity to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to form and maintain positive relationships with multiple stakeholders (e.g. pastors, principals, teachers, families).
- Strong professionalism and an ability to work as a team.
- Excellent understanding of best practices in education.
- Possesses integrity, diligence, and dedication to the Catholic educational mission of the Archdiocese of Miami.
- Strong aptitude in informational and educational technology.
- Strong oral and written English-language communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
- Spanish-language proficiency preferred.
- The job involves a mix of sitting at a desk for administrative work and extensive walking/standing to monitor classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and school grounds.
- High-level auditory and visual acuity is necessary for monitoring safety, evaluating instruction, and interacting with staff, students, and parents.
- Must be able to push and occasionally lift objects weighing 25 pounds.
- The environment is fast-paced, with constant, high-frequency interruptions.
- Irregular, long hours are standard, with frequent, mandatory attendance at evening and weekend events.
