State-of-the-art sports field planned for St. Brendan High

Groundbreaking launches second phase of four-phase renewal and rebuilding plan

MIAMI | Phase II of St. Brendan High School’s campus master plan began with a groundbreaking ceremony April 27.

The first phase was a 26,366 square-foot Innovation Center that was completed in August 2016.

Phase II includes a multipurpose field for football, lacrosse and soccer, grandstands for 750 people, synthetic field turf and LED lighting. A full-pore running track will surround the new field. Additionally, baseball and softball fields will be built containing added field turf, LED lighting and grandstands. Redesigned roads and additional parking will address traffic needs.

Phase III will include a gym expansion with new lockers and a bigger weight-training room. Phase IV will include a 700-seat performing arts center.

“A track is fundamental in developing physical skills for all sports,” said St. Brendan Principal Jose Rodelgo-Bueno. “Today, history makes justice to our athletes and brings to our teams the state-of-the-art athletic fields they deserve.”

Auxiliary Bishop Enrique Delgado, who blessed the ground at the ceremony, said that athletes will not only grow physically, but also spiritually.
