MIAMI (Sept. 28, 2022) | Catholic schools and parish offices in the tri-county Archdiocese of Miami — Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe — will reopen Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, now that the worst of Hurricane Ian has passed South Florida.

That includes regular instruction, extra-curricular activities, and other school events, as well as parish ministry meetings.

If there are any school closures, those would be on a case-by-case basis, due to factors such as lack of electricity. No major damage has been reported so far at archdiocesan facilities, including those hardest hit in the Florida Keys.

The archdiocese is continuing to ask for prayers for the people in other parts of Florida who will be much more affected by the storm, which intensified to a near Category 5 as it neared landfall on Florida’s southwest coast.
