MIAMI | Students in grades 4-8 from Sts. Peter and Paul School went to St.Mary Cathedral Feb. 25 to enter through the Holy Doors during the Year of Mercy.
After welcoming them at the entrance to the cathedral, Father Christopher Marino, the cathedral's rector, celebrated 9 a.m. Mass for students from both Sts. Peter and Paul and St. Mary Cathedral School.
Afterward, Father Marino and St. Mary's principal, Sister Michelle Hernandez of the Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary, explained to Sts. Peter and Paul students the history and importance of the cathedral.
The student pilgrims then walked through the Holy Doors and gave thanks to the Lord.
"I will carry this experience with me," said student Jenna Ruiz.
"What we experienced today was a once in a lifetime event," added fellow student Luly Nieto.
